The only other option would be to start a new game, open both save files, and manually copy every single entry of "#DEC_ENC" that's in the new save and paste them over in the old save, as then they'd be properly made on a Mac. The only real "fix" would be to play the rest on that Windows machine you had, or start over. (And yes, no password is still technically a password, it just uses an empty "" instead of something like "dleatrou") If you put that save back on the Windows machine it should work just fine, but unfortunately I don't think you'll be able to get any ".dec" file to open properly on your Mac with that save because internally the passwords don't line up. However, the way it "encrypts" the files to your save would have been done on Windows, which may produce different numbers than on a Mac, making it seem as though it requires a password since it can no longer get the corrent data out because the encrypt/decrypt process may differ between systems. This second one has a "pass" entry for the password, so since the first does not have it, it undeniably does not require a password. Now see the difference with a file that uses a password: Reason being, this is how the game define's "encrypt_c": You were semi right with them being "corrupted", but it's a longer story than it's worth and may not even be right. The way the game writes those ".dec" files to your save is likely unique to your system, where all the files were written on Windows, but now you're trying to re-open them on a Mac. Since this is likely the first time you've been using Decypher in the game, you wouldn't have seen it until now, but likely you won't be able to progress any further other than with pure luck. The "save_.xml" file is your save, except it will have your name of the account in it.) (The link mentions "~/Library/Application Support/Hacknet/Accounts" as a location for the save on a Mac, where inside you should have something such as "Accounts.txt" and Well, first, as far as I can tell, what you uploaded is a backup of the game, as in the game itself, not your save file, so you may want to remove that from your Dropbox. One thing that I've seen online is that if you started your save on a windows computer (As I did) and then steam clouded it over to a mac that the files get corrupted or something? I tried the password you gave me and it said that it was incorrect, I'm on mac so I'm unsure on how to find my save file. Dive down a rabbit hoIe as you follow the instructions of a recently deceased hacker, whose death may not have been the accident the media reports. (If you don't believe any of this, you can upload your save file, it'll be around "Documents/My Games/Hacknet/Accounts" if you're on Windows and similar for others, or copy and paste the file's contents on and give the link, whatever suits your fancy.) Hacknet is an immersive, terminal-based hacking simulator for PC. Hacknets Extension discord isnt just for extensions. You could also report the bug there as well. "dleatrou"ĭouble unfortunately, in regard to "encrypt_c":Īnd finally, unless you renamed it, the game may have produced something similar to "encrypt_source(1)" if you already had a successful copy of "encrypt_source.cs" in that directory. After looking through, and seeing that its a 'bug', Id suggest going to the discord for extensions, finding Matt when hes online (or Orann, whatever you want to call him) and report it there. "dleatrou" is, seeing as the man's name is "David Leatrou". I don't see any of them in the encrypted files nor in the username passwords.Originally posted by The Joker:Unfortunately, "dleadrou" is not part of any file in the game, however: is this mission bugged?ĮDIT: I have also found a file that says four special characters are not allowed. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the game and tried it from both my mac client and my desktop. I have searched the internet and found nothing that points me in the right direction. dec files from the DEC Solutions Mainframe. Now, in Ghosting the Vault, I have found Decypher.exe, and know about the username-password thing, but nothing I input as the file password allows me to decrypt the. I had to abort the mission because nothing I decoded was right. Text contains characters that cannot be resolved by this spritefont. However, whenever I attempt to decode the file header, it comes back with the message: Fatal Error:System.ArgumentException I started "Through the Looking Glass" and obtained DECHead.
